Some background

A father, brother, partner, uncle (and Great Uncle!); I'm a northern English man, living in london.

I bring 25 years of leadership experience in global organisations. I spent the first half of my career in the financial sector - leading teams, negotiating deals and learning how to navigate the competitive realities of global corporate life.

Bit by bit, my focus changed and I started to pay closer attention to what good and bad management look like.  Eventually, I moved to Organisational Development.

Later, as a partner in a leadership consultancy, I deepened my understanding of what helps leaders and teams thrive, and got my stripes as a coach and facilitator.

I left, began my own practice, built a client base, trained as a psychotherapist and also became an ACCPH-accredited facilitator of men’s groups.

Therapy-informed

There are a handful of concepts and frameworks that I have integrated into my work. Some are psychologically-oriented and some more clearly business and leadership focussed.

These ones are 'in my bones', you might say. Do contact me if you want to chat about anything that looks interesting to you.

The Drama Triangle.  Stephen Karpman.  A way of understanding inter-personal dynamics, and the roles we easily inhabit, often at work.

Push and Pull energy.  A behavioural framework, based on Transactional Analysis.  A great way to understand your patterns and how they can help and hinder progress.  Are you a 'Pusher' or a 'Puller'?

A Model of Task, Process, and Climate.  An adaptation of Edgar Schein's work.  Is there enough balance between these key elements?

Polyvagal Theory.  Stephen Porges.  A neurophysiological understanding of how we react to threat, and hence the importance of psychological safety.

Peter Hawkins Team Coaching Model.  A systemic approach that considers how the team relates to its environment as well as its internal dynamics and growth.
